Guest Speakers
A) Orakei Auckland Councillor Cr Desley Simpson presented on the Emergency Budget, the drought impact on finances making necessary a 3.5% rates increase.
Desley was thanked for attending and presenting
B) Orakei Local Board member Sarah Powrie spoke on the key projects and planning ahead for the Local Board. Sarah was thanked for attending and presenting
Soapbox – Pauline Roberts spoke on a mural being painted on the street-side of the fence at her Montessori Pre-school at 16 Sudeley Street. As the owner, she had received concerns from street residents.
C) Okahu Bay water separation project update – Josh Nicodemus from CB Civil and Council’s Healthy-Waters gave updates
D) 1-7 Brenton Place/Kepa Road, Kainga Ora development.
The Chair gave a background to the proposal and Orakei Community Association's objections including its progressing the application through lock-down and applying for non-notification and Kainga Ora’s decline to attend this meeting after earlier agreeing to.
Orakei Local Board member Troy Churton updated on the Board’s concerns including scale.
Tamaki MP Simon O’Connor updated on his work questioning Kainga Ora and the Minister and working with the school and the Orakei Community Association.
St Josephs School Board chair Garth Bray talked about the process and impact of both construction and the many more people being housed on the locality
OCA Executive member Craig Ewington spoke on the Orakei Community Association submission.
