The Ōrākei Community Association exists to give the community a clear, independent voice.
We bring residents together, help make sense of what’s happening locally, and speak up constructively and confidently, on the issues that shape the future of our suburb.
We believe communities are strongest when people are informed, connected, and able to take part in decisions that affect their lives.
This is your community.
This is your voice.

Desley Simpson JP, Deputy Mayor of Auckland and Sarah Powrie, Ōrākei Local Board Chair
"As local residents of Ōrākei, we're proud to support the Ōrākei Community Association and the work they do in strengthening local connection and engagement, and to promote positive outcomes for our area. We know that no two suburbs in our city are exactly the same. Having an effective OCA ensures we have tailor made works and engagement to reflect the unique needs and character of our wonderful Ōrākei community."
Community Supporters
The Ōrākei Community Association is supported by a small number of local organisations who share a belief in strong, informed communities.
Their support helps us communicate, host forums and maintain independent channels for community discussion. It does not influence our positions, advocacy or priorities.
Supporters are recognised as contributors to community wellbeing, not advertisers, and not decision-makers.
Our independence is non-negotiable. It is the foundation of the trust we hold within the community.
GOLD Sponsor
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ray White Ōrākei, our Gold Sponsor, for their generous support and longstanding commitment to the Orakei community. As the only real estate brand with an established physical presence in Orakei, their partnership plays a vital role in helping us deliver meaningful initiatives and create lasting local impact

What We Do
We are a voluntary, resident-led organisation formed by people who care deeply about the place they live.
We Represent the Ōrākei Suburb
Our programs are designed to address the diverse needs of the community. We offer a range of services aimed at promoting well-being, education, and social inclusion.

We are not part of council.
We are not a business group.
We are not driven by commercial or political interests.
Our role is to sit firmly within the community
listening, connecting, and advocating where it matters. Sometimes that means raising concerns. Sometimes it means asking better questions. Often it means helping residents understand what’s proposed, what’s changing, and how they can have their say.

At our core, we are about stewardship of place, of character, and of community wellbeing, now and into the future.

Ōrākei Marae
Ōrākei Marae is our cultural heartbeat and sits at the heart of our papa kāinga in Ōrākei. It grounds us to this whenua and to this community forever and we see our role as tangata whenua to contribute and lead initiatives that ensure our people, our papa kāinga, our community thrives long into the future.
Pourewa
From our native nursery, Māra kai, apiary, Rongoā study and living laboratory, Pourewa welcomes our entire community and visitors to come and learn about the Taiao (and environment) and Ngāti Whātua Orākei - nau mai, haramai! Pourewa is also a community vegetable garden – a māra kai – a revegetation nursery.
Keep an eye on our Pukamata/Facebook page for regular updates on our weekly Pourewa Māra Kai Distribution. Pick-up Pourewa Reserve (entrance closest to Z Petrol Station).

If you live in Ōrākei, your voice matters to us.
